Third playoff game against the Rosemont Bombardiers, Mar 14

This was our third time facing the Rosemont Bombardiers, not to be confused with the CDJR Bombardiers (even though they also have CDJR lettering on their jerseys, quite confusing).

The game started out as a real nail biter, despite our 13-2 shot-on-goal advantage as well as a penalty against our opponent in the first period, we went into the second period trailing by one goal (according to the kids, one of our shots was also a goal that the refs didn’t allow). After battling hard to gain the upper hand, William finally managed a breakaway and scored the first goal two minutes into the second period. More hard work to maintain the tie, then Joe came up trying for a goal, and Jakob positioned himself well, got the rebound and sent it in the net – Jakob’s first of the year!  A minute later, William passed to Joe who sent it home.  Seconds later, Antonio gets a strange double penalty – for interference and tripping (I have never seen that before), leaving us shorthanded for the next 4 minutes.  We end the second period leading 3-1 but still shorthanded.  At the start of the third period, Skylar decides to take matters into her own hands and takes the puck out of our zone and straight into their net!  Still shorthanded and only 20 seconds later, William does the same!  What an exciting game!  And then towards the end, after a pass from Romolo, Joe decides to make the final score 6-1.

Lots of other things happened in the game… the refs were ultra picky about timing for change-ups, Kenneth made some nice saves (he was uncomfortably alone a couple of times), all the players (including our call up Lionel) played hard and played well.  We need to just keep it up if we want to stay in the game: next game Sunday evening.  Remember that these games will only get harder!

Go Cougars, go!!!
