This was an intense game to watch. We had the first goal scored by Joe, and although the scorer marked down William and Skylar as assists, I'm not so sure about it, but I will credit them anyway (ahh, the beauty of the video!). As is so often the case, the other team scored three minutes later, quickly followed by another goal (we were shorthanded, having just gotten a penalty), and they went on to lead for most of the game. It was a nail biter, and unfortunately I didn't do such a great job of filming (too busy biting my nails!), so I missed Joe's second goal, a beauty that dinged off the top bar behind the goalie and into the net (assisted by Skylar). So it was a tie with at least four minutes left in the game... Then sensing William's determination to get a goal, I filmed only the very tail-end of his attempt, as he brought the puck up from the Cougar's zone and out-skated the Chiefs' defense to squeeze the puck just past the right side of the goalie and into the net! We held on to the lead during the last two minutes and victory was ours...! Yay!
A big shout out goes to Heather, Skylar's mum, for providing us with some fun shots of the players, since I was too busy giving myself a manicure (I don't even bite my nails, so I am not really sure what I was doing - I didn't even count the amazing saves by Kieran during the last period and had to ask him how many he had!). I'll try to do better next time.
